Late at night, one night after the time change, working an extra hour at warp speed, I taught one of my nurse colleagues how to do Mechano Magic! I taught her first by asking her to watch another nurse friend do the treatment on me, then she received the treatment.

Now she needs to give me the treatment so I can evaluate her touch.

She asked me: do patients think it’s weird when you offer to give them a treatment? Do they ever say No?

I had to think about this. No, no one has ever refused the treatment, unless she is in active labor, at which time, she doesn’t want anyone to come near her. This is not always true, but is true most of the time.

One of my patients is in the hospital for pre-term labor prevention. She used her call bell to call out, and said she was in excruciating pain.

She said she felt like her vagina was in flames.

Here, I said, come towards me on your right side facing those windows.

Then I did the Mechano Magic with a little Matrix Energetics thrown in (as taught by Richard Bartlett).

After ten minutes, she was back to hooking a rug. Within an hour, she had the rug hanging on the bulletin board in her room, and was starting on another project.

She didn’t seem to put the pain relief and the Mechano Magic treatment together. But that’s OK!! She didn’t know what hit her, but pain relief was the result.

And the baby lived another day inside her womb.

Mechano Magic was popular in the early 1900′s in America. Ella Kilgus originated the treatment and she opened her first clinic in Newark, New Jersey.

I’ve seen pictures of this clinic, with long, sprawling porches, balconies, long green lawns.

The patients came for Mechano Magic, ate healthy food, and relaxed under old growth oaks, sometimes for weeks at a time.

Dr Ella, as we all called her, then opened another clinic in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where patients came for treatments and extended stays, with the additional healing of ocean power and lunar tidal rhythms.

This was Dr. Ella’s favorite location, but she eventually settled in Philadelphia and had a thriving Mechano-Magic practice there until her death, well into her nineties.

I’d go there with Dr Ella’s friend, Dorothea Williams, whose husband, Hal, a homeopath and my family doctor, learned the treatment and treated many of his patients, including my family.

I learned how to do the treatment from Hal Williams.

Receiving the treatment from Dr Ella was an experience I’ll always remember.

She was old.

She was literally carried to the treatment table by two of her attendants, one on each side of her.

But when she arrived at the table,she straightened up, stood by herself, placed her powerful hands on my back, and began her magic.

Mechano Magic.

From a child’s perspective, this was amazing, potentially terrifying, maybe a bit odd.

But I was mesmerized by this experience.

Dr Ella was a healer of the highest order.

Now only a few of us know how to do the treatment.

I teach my nurse healer friends, I practice on my patients, my husband and two dogs.

I go to the home of Dorthea Williams, who has since passed, and exchange Mechano-Magic with her daughter almost every week.

This has improved my technique.

I am now ready to teach this amazing healing modality to a wider audience.

People have been saying for years that they’re either spiritual or religious, but no one ever claims to be both spiritual and religious.

What I mean by religious is a complete reverence for all religions. In the end, every religious tradition has at its  heart what I would call Universal Truth. Every spiritual tradition also has at its heart Universal Truth.

By the end of the interview tonight,  I could not tell the difference between the two.

Kent has worked with Native American cultures for many years. The conversation surrounding that topic was revealing.

The dominant culture tried to eradicate the American Indian, and they failed. Native American spirituality is also religious. God is in everything, in the wind, in the trees and the stars. God is in the American Indian drum which pulsates as a healing balm throughout humanity.

When we pulsate in response to our connection with everything, we know we are alive.

I visualized a puppy that would come
into our lives and be perfect in every way: that she would be housebroken, she would snuggle lovingly, she would lie peacefully at my feet, that she wouldn’t beg for food, and would love dogs and children, as well as be a medium sized dog and not small or huge.

She is all of these things and more.

I also wanted to love her immediately, and not  feel as if she was an alien creature.

That came to pass.

Pearl, it turns out, is 20 weeks old instead of a mere 12 weeks. No wonder she is more advanced than a normal three month old pup.

Miracles, magic and laziness. These are the things we talked about on the show, as well as two of Mark’s books, The Greatest Secret Of All,  and  The Magical Path.

I think Marc needs to write a new definition of laziness and submit it to the Dictionary Authorities. On the show, he said it was a loose, relaxed and focused approach to getting your goals and dreams accomplished.

Dogs have always tuned me into a relaxed and timeless perception. I think a dog totally represents a hanging out mentally. I love to watch a dog swim in the river, for instance, or relax in the sun next to my lawn chair.

Last summer, Ulysses and I swam in the river every day. I loved listening to him breathe as we swam up to the rock and back. I knew those moments were precious.

All moments are precious. We need to allow all moments to flow through our grasp even as we loosen our attitude in a spirit of splendid receptivity.

The point of the book is that Dog is the closest to Human emotionally than any other animal.

The first day she came to us, we took nap together.  I awoke in a startle to witness Pearl staring at me. I stared back. It was an emotional moment where time let go of me as her fathomless eyes magnetized my soul.

Who is Pearl really?

As the changing of the guard evolves, and as Pearl communes with us and also with the spirits of Mukunda and Ulysses, I am taken with the beauty and depth of the Canine World.

She is teaching me the commonality of inter species understanding. Perhaps dogs are the doorway to our ability to truly BE in the magnificence of the never ending force we call Life.

Pope John Paul II declared in a public audience in 1990 that “also the animals possess a soul and
men must love and feel solidarity with our smaller brethren”.

He said, too, that they are the “fruit of the creative action of the Holy Spirit and merit respect,” and are
as near to God as men are.”

The Pope went on to say that, “animals have the breath
of life and were given it by God. In this respect, man
created by the hand of God is identical with all living
creatures. … The existence therefore of all living creatures
depends on the living spirit/breath of God that not only creates but also sustains and renews the face of the earth.”

The Tennessee SPCA was alerted, and my friend Sheila Trouble The Dog Duncan got involved. Sheila sent me the picture of Pearl that you see on this blog. This story is: everyone who meets Pearl falls in love with her. She is three months of age and is already house broken.  She loves dogs and she loves cats. Sheila Trouble The Dog Duncan has been involved in rescuing dogs for years.

She has never heard of a dog who is completely house broken at the age of three months.

What kind of dog do you think she is? A star walker? A Moon dancer? A Gypsy Dog?

A few days ago I gazed into the eyes of Mukunda, a picture, and I asked him who will be our next dog?

Pearl showed up a day later.

These dogs are angels. I told the head of the SPCA in Tennessee that dogs are not dogs, they are spiritual teachers.

We need a subject for the Neural Mechano Magic treatments. Pearl fits that job description perfectly.

She will be a very healthy dog.

Today’s surrender will align us with an Intelligence that is far greater than anything we have ever known. This Intelligence not only creates, but flows from heart to heart, if we allow our hearts to open.

This Intelligence suspends all time, dissolves all space and expands vision, smell, taste and touch to encompass all that breathes and lives.

This Intelligence expands a feeling of Oneness with all: trees, rocks, dirt, snow and sky. All of it shimmers with the life force of beauty and exuberance.

Today’s prayer simply invites this Presence into our lives without judging what it should look like or how it should act.

We simply say: “Thy Will Be Done! Let Go, Let God.”

We surrender and trust our highest power, the Divine Intelligence, which loves us unconditionally. It always sees the worthiness, the absolute perfection of who we are and in that state of Love, wants nothing more than to give blessings and gifts and solutions to all of our so called problems.

Today we put ourselves in the Presence of this Divine Grace. We simply invite it into our hearts. We simply live in this Eternal Joy, knowing we have made this magnificent connection.

In the letting go process, we remain alert to messages, guidance and take action on the answers pouring forth from this Divine Realm of Communication.

Miracle mindedness changes all perception from the mundane, to the Love that surrounds us all.

She is treating a 30 year history of chronic neck pain. Stubborn neck pain, may I add. While my Chi is getting strong and centered, my neck is feeling like it ran a full out marathon.

I know that the neck will catch up to the rest of me, as I stretch and massage it tenderly.

So who am I really as I go about this transformation? I am not the nurse who goes to the hospital every weekend.

I am not the person who now has no dogs. When I had my precious dogs, I became a dog. That is who I want to be again. The dogs accepted me as part of them and their soul spirit.

I identify with guardian  dog energy. The Westminister Dog Show was on last night, and the way the DNA of those dogs has been manipulated makes me want to cry.

I like the good old mutt dog who needs someone to love them,  just as they are encouraged to Love the people who save them from sure destruction.

Sheila “Trouble The Dog” Duncan sends me pictures of abandoned dogs who are up for adoption. Dog rescuers come to their aid and find shelter for them, maybe a foster home, hopefully a home where people see beyond the dog-ness to the  purity of the dog’s loving spirit.

Who are you, today? And who are you not? Grow towards the light of your transformation.

I remember praying–please, please come back.

And when you did, you knew you were in deep doodoo. But I was so happy to see you again that I just hugged and hugged you, but of course you nipped me on the nose.

The very first thing you did when I picked you up initially was place my nose gently in your mouth. This became our private joke. When I said, “Where is Mommy’s nose?” You nipped my nose ever so sweetly.

I practiced the Neural Mechano Magic treatments on you nearly every day, and we bonded in a healing space together forever.

Then I remember the time you herded our sheep Daisy May into the river and she swam across and had an adventure in downtown Lancaster, PA!

Thinking back over your puppy and youth years, I think–How is it possible we survived? You or me?

But we did and now you’ve gone over to the great beyond.

I will always remember your intensity and this picture reminds me.

Please remember me and nip my nose when we finally meet, again.

You are Loved.
