The Charly Leetham Business Plan Model

Brilliant and Savvy--Charly Leetham

We had fellow Squidoo Rocket Mom, Abundant Babe Master Mind member and
online business genius on “Moon, Moo & You: The Collective Wisdom” June 9, 2009!

We were going to discuss “Women In Business” but a day or two before the show, I
began to feel adrift in my business. I attributed this to the drive to make Giant Squid
by the end of June by creating 100 quality lenses. I am usually very good at juggling
the various weekly tasks I set for myself, but the sheer energy involved with creating
theses lenses, and full time work, blogging, getting ready for a Rally For Single Payer
began to cloud my sense of overall vision.

And Charly was just the person to address the void I was feeling by leading the
discussion we ultimately had:- Creating and Holding To A Business Plan.

Charly has been working with unemployed men and women in her local area, Canberra,
Australia. Her main focus has been helping these men and women develop well thought
out business plans for future business or job ventures.

Most people approach their business in this way: Ready, Fire, Aim!

Joan and I are goal setters but neither of us have a business plan. We understand
various aspects of the online business puzzle–but have not learned to juggle all aspects of it
efficiently or proficiently.

Running an online business is not so different from having a brick and mortar business.
The principles for running both are exactly the same.

You must look at your business as a Business and not a Hobby.

What are your raw materials, your strengths and your weaknesses?

If you are feeling scattered, this is a great opportunity to tame the wild beast and
become the main orchestrator of your Business Creation.

Achievement has to do with single minded focus and absolute determination based
on the plan and vision you create for your business.

Once you have this, you are unstoppable.

Think of your vision as an extension of your business.

We discussed that great universal common thread that so many of us talk about:  feeling
scattered. Charly said that often, feeling scattered is a sign of getting out of your comfort zone.
This means you are in a good place but also means you have to take steps to get where you
want to go.

Do one thing everyday that moves you towards your ultimate goal. Always look and review
the big goal and break that down into bite sized chunks.

Where To Start: The business plan is a living, breathing document. Once you work it out,
don’t put it in a drawer and forget about it.

Breakdown the business plan in this way: 1) Overview 2) Resource Management
3) Marketing Plan 3) Communications 4) Customer Service 5) Financial

Describe what kind of business you want to have, with all four senses. Who are your
clients? What do they love? and hate? eat? what cars do they drive? Get to really
know your target audience!

If you’ve been in your business for awhile, take time to reflect on what drew you to
the business vision that got you started on the path you are now on.

You may need help with certain components of the business plan. In a word–Outsource.

Look at your business in 3 and 6 months,  12 months, 18 months and 1 year.

Them 2 years, 5 years, 10 years out. Be flexible and adapt where needed.

You certainly could utilize a coach during these times of planning.

How much money do you want to make? Go quarter by quarter and make adjustments as
necessary.

Take this particular page out of the business plan and stick it up on your wall, computer or vision board.

Look at this daily to gauge whether or not you are on track.

Make sure all of your online pursuits are adding to your overall business plan. For instance, I belong
to an online forum, created by Pat O’Bryan, called the Milagro World Forum. The amount of information
exchanged here is invaluable. And it’s free to join.

The Squidoo Lens making experience has helped me gain credibility and trust within and also outside
the Squidoo Community. This is also a service that is free of charge.

Twitter and Facebook, and all the Nings are a way to further broaden relationships and trust all
across the world.

We addressed refocusing our efforts to the immediate localities where we live. We discussed
niches and broadening niches to include many more people.

As an example, my original niche was always healing and self-healing, but my original target audience
was nurses–and still is to a certain degree. However, I am now expanding my focus to include all
caregivers, healers in all walks of life, always with a spiritual focus.

So perhaps we will pick Charley’s brain on this topic further. I know I will!!

Tree Huggers Unite!! Pat Hicks On Moon, Moo & You: The Collective Wisdom

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

http://www.squidoo.com/pathicksmoonmooyou

http://www.newlifehardwoodfloors.com

-=-=–=-=–=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=–=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Pat Hicks was on our show this week, 4/21/09 and his passion is the history of trees
in America. He helps to utilize those trees which have been discarded and left at the bottom
of rivers, protected by silt and cold river water, which have left them intact for hundreds of years.

Pat now has a home based business called New Life Hard Wood Floors which specializes
in eco-friendly, environmentally sensitive, reclaimed, re-milled antique oak hard pine
flooring.

New Life Hard Wood Floors is committed to the ecological friendly recycling of old
growth antique hard wood flooring. Future generations can admire, enjoy and benefit
from the distinctive and uncommon beauty of these superlative hardwoods which would
otherwise be lost forever.

We asked Pat how he came to be so drawn to the preservation of these Long Leaf Pine Trees.

First of all, Pat said, he has always loved antiques. About seven years ago, his neighbor showed
him wood that came from 100-200 year old trees that he salvaged from an old building. 60-70
years ago, wood came from 100-300 year old trees.

This is not true today.

Pat experienced a floor made out of 200-300 year old Pecan trees. He experienced 100,000
feet of oak that literally had been thrown away.

These experiences were a wake up call for Pat Hicks.

Salvaging and reusing old growth wood is emotionally satisfying, Pat said.

Pat explained to Joan and I that when the Europeans first came to this country, they clear cut
28 million acres of Long Leaf Pine that stood 100-200 feet high. They were as hard as Red Oak,
were termite proof and fire resistant. These trees were rigged to float down river to saw mills. Many sunk
to the depths of the river.

Pat is in the process of making a video about the trees and the antique flooring. In it are pictures
of these floating trees that are so abundant that you can’t see the river for the floating logs.

This image has a sickening effect on the mind. Yet as Pat pointed out, the exact same thing is happening on the Amazon today. These trees are all cleared for farm land, so people can eat.

A tree 100 feet tall and 12 feet in diameter, cut down in 1900, started growing in 14-15-1600. Our landfills are now overflowing with this wood.

We can’t find 400 year old trees anymore, or rarely.

The trees we enjoy today are only as old as the Great Depression. Teddy Roosevelt was instrumental
in establishing government work programs, where Loblolly Shortleaf Pine were planted in a mass effort to replace the destruction of the Long Leaf Pine tree.

Loblolly Shortleaf Pine grow very fast, say 30-40 years, whereas the Long Leaf Pine grows over a 300-400 year period.

Each piece of the Long Leaf Pine is unique. The forests were dense where they once grew and they had to fight for every ounce of growth due to lack of light.

Pines of today are light weight and not nearly as durable.

These fast growing Loblolly Shortleaf Pine trees were planted in the 1920′s and 1930′s. By the end of World War II these trees were maturing and used as building materials for suburban growth.

Joan’s sister, Betty DeLorme, came on the show at this point and described the grief she
experienced when a 30-40 year old Oak Tree had to be cut down in her yard. The miracle of it is that
the people who cut down the tree were sensitive to her love for the tree. So often, people are not
in tune to how much people love a tree that dies or has to be destroyed, or is cut down carelessly by
a a person who “just doesn’t get it!”

Trees that grow near us are a part of every fiber of our being!

The people who milled the tree for Betty were also sensitive about the Oak that was cut down
in her yard.

Betty wanted bowls to be made from the salvaged wood for her children. The woodworker told Betty
that the tree was telling him that it wanted to be made into a lamp and not a bowl.

And lamps were what were created from the tree.

Pockets of Long Leaf Pine still stand in parts of the South, some in South Carolina, and some in Georgia. We are in the process of locating these trees and perhaps will make a pilgrimage to them.

Attitudes about trees have changed. More and more people are pulling up carpet and either
preserving the flooring they find or putting down antique floor. The floor will last forever, for our
children and their children to always appreciate.

At this point, I told the story of preserving our 150-200 year old barn, lifting up the foundation and
mixing batch after batch of cement to restore the front of the barn which also houses the cistern.
In the process we also saved a bull frog, who lives in our basement still.

Several years back, we put our property up on the market, and our Realtors told us to tear down the barn.

My husband and I stood up calmly and asked then to leave the house.

This lack of respect for our beautiful property was not what we wanted in a Realtor. We took the
house off the market.

American society is recycling, reusing and conserving with greater enthusiasm now than ever before.
The plastic age of use it and throw it away is changing as reflected in the growing popularity of Pat’s
business. The green movement, the Sierra Club and local conservationists are attracted to Pat’s message.

Pat mused about the old house my husband Tom and I live in. He thought about the house when it was first built in 1792. The window sills in my living room are deep and thick with oak that grew in the woods beside the house. The wood in this house started growing as a seedling in 1390, perhaps, because the oldest trees were always used to build houses in those days.

What were the trees like in 1390?

If the wood in my house could talk, what would it say?

Having Pat Hicks on the show was a great experience, a consciousness expanding moment. Trees are
living breathing beings and are Universal Healing Symbols.

Let us learn to love them as children of God/ess.

Todd Silva On Moon, Moo & You

When you first meet Todd Silva, you’ll be greeted by his warm smile, and short of
me telling you otherwise, you might regard him as a very normal, even typical husband,
father and businessman.

But Todd has an alter ego, a hidden identity, so to speak! He is known to a select few as “The Secret Dollar Man!”

That’s because everyday he gives away a dollar. And I do mean every day!!

Todd started doing this about two years ago after experiencing a couple of setbacks
in his life, mostly in the area of finances. An inspirational moment guided him to begin to give away a dollar, once a day, as a way to get back on track, and to get back in balance with his life.

Todd began to share his incredible story of growth and miracles with friends, and eventually Give Away A Dollar A Day grew into what it is today: A worldwide generosity movement where folks are giving away, every day, in many countries and in a variety of currencies–One Dollar wherever they can slip it, unnoticed by anyone!!

In our interview this evening, Todd told me more about what he felt called to do with this Dollar A Day Give Away. He said that he was tired of experiencing and re-experiencing the same patterns of failure regarding his financial situation. He attributed these failings to the false beliefs he seemed to have about money: False beliefs that we learn from infancy and which haunt us throughout life.

So he prayed and meditated for an answer to this dilemma.

And it came with a voice urging him to do the dollar give away program. The voice told him he had focused entirely on himself and wasn’t thinking of anyone else. Instead of thinking about what he could get, the voice urged him to turn this around.

What can I give?

Todd said that at the time of our interview, he had given away 6-700 hundred dollars over 6-700 days. He said that he has made the commitment to do this practice for the rest of his life.

It took him awhile to tell anyone about this practice, because he had the idea that he was supposed to be a serious business man. But the friend he told was enthusiastic and wanted to hear the whole story!

After a time, the idea caught on, and Todd built a website surrounding the concept. He began to get letters from the people who were doing it, describing the miracles that evolved from this simple practice.

I asked Todd if he thought the act of giving away money was an act of expanding one’s consciousness to embrace a more generous way of living?

Todd said that especially in today’s world with all the bad news about the economy, that the act of giving money away creates a belief that the Universe is a friendly place!

The subconscious mind receives the message that there is more than enough to go around.

I asked Todd how big IS this movement? He said about 1000 strong, at this time!

I asked him about tithing. I’ve read many times in books written by “Spiritualists” that tithing 10% of your income brings back 100 fold great wealth and riches.

The trouble with this theory, said Todd, is that if you are tithing to get rather than to give, that the free flow energy wave is corrupted. Tithing is also more often than not, seen as an obligation, which also stymies energy flow.

The dollar a day give away is unplanned and spontaneous. You get an extra charge as you prepare to Do The Act!!

You suddenly feel like a child who is about to go out and play with her friends in the neighborhoods of old.

When an unsuspecting person finds the money, she gets a real charge, too!!

When you drop the dollar, you are letting it go, a practice of surrender.

As time went on with Todd’s practice, he felt a shift in the relationships he had with his family and with the people in the world. He said his life began to work, began to operate from a flow rather than a block.

He said the inspiration from the practice of Unconditional Giving grows and expands every day.

He described what it was like to do it for the first time!

Today, I did it for the first time, and it was a hoot!! I went to the Vets to make a yearly exam appointment for shots for Ulysses and Mukunda, my beloved dogs. The woman who waited on me kept sighing heavily. She was either in pain, acutely depressed, or both.

A Kleenex box sat in front of her assigned place. When she wasn’t looking, I slipped it under the box. I noticed that an end of the dollar stuck out so I moved a stuffed animal that was sitting there closer to cover the dollar bill.

I have no idea who will find this money, but it just gave me an extra bounce to my step!!

I did it again, a little later, in a grocery store.

This is what I noticed. Today is tax day, and the inevitable conversation today was the dread of paying the tax man X amount of money.

An idea came to my mind that ordinarily would not have surfaced if I had not begun this wonderful practice.

I said to a friend, “Think of it as an energy exchange, not an energy drain.”

It was an inspired thought. It was a Divine AHA!!

Todd says there are 4 things to remember when giving away our dollars every day:

1) Do it every day to establish a habit of Unconditional Giving. This will gradually make an internal shift!!

2) Do it anonymously, but balance it out because you may feel like handing the money to someone who really needs it. And you might actually feel led to give more–or less –than one dollar.

3) Do it in public places so people can find it. For instance, if you throw it out the car window, it may never be found.

4) Do the practice with a sense of joy and wonderment! Let Go as you do it. Release it!!

If a state of obligation takes over your consciousness, stop doing it, for a time.

Journal as you do the practice, to make note of the internal shifts. Thinking of paying money to anyone including the Tax Man as an energy exchange rather than an energy drain is a biggy for me.

Todd’s big vision for this project is to gradually see a departure from consumerism and the consciousness of “Never Enough” to living gratefully and with a an attitude of service and compassion for all living things.

He hopes that people will learn to give in a spirit of Love.

This practice opens the way to develop connection with every living creature we meet today and every day!!

Trapper, Clause, Moon, Moo & You: The Wisdom Of Sleep Discussion

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Trapper Sherwood is the “Wisdom of Sleep Guy,” and he was a guest on “Moon, Moo & You:
The Collective Wisdom,” 4/7/09.

We asked what attracted Trapper to the Niche of Sleep disorders and deprivation.
Sleep disorders are a major problem in the world today, and the fact that he has a passion
for this topic was evident and quite contagious as the show progressed.

Trapper said that he discovered he could not sleep around the time of his divorce several years ago.
He found the book by Dr. David F. Tracy called: “The Sleep Secret: How To Sleep Without
Pills,” and began using the exercises to get to sleep. It’s a great read, and fun to see
exactly what can be done with a public domain work, (a book, for example, that was published
before 1923), because Trapper and C.D. Jensen did inspiring work with that book.

The book is a free download at Trapper’s blog: http://thesleepsecretebook.com/blog/

Claus Jensen’s music is incorporated into the exercises that are found at the end of Dr. David
F. Tracy’s book.

Trapper explained that there are 5 musical tracks that accompany the spoken instructions which
are in Trapper’s very soothing voice.

First, an introductory tract, with “how to get to sleep” instructions with Claus’ music playing in
the background for people to get a feel for what the program is about.

A track with subliminal suggestions for deep sleep was added to further bring a person into
the mindset for relaxation.

We discussed children and whether or not this music is appropriate to help children get to sleep
for the purposes of napping or getting settled down around bedtime.

I did an earlier interview with Claus Jensen where he talked about his music for mother and child series,
http://www.musicformotherandchild.com. His music is used to sooth the baby while still in the womb, the
infant in the first months of life and child in the first several years.

We discussed drugs and sleep.

My comrades on night shift notoriously have a difficult time sleeping period. Some of the nurses I work with never sleep at all. They do resort to drugs in some cases.

Ambien is a drug which is widely prescribed.

Trapper pointed out that the latest Ambien casualty of a famous person is the death of Heath Ledger. Trapper asked: “When are we going to wake up and take the natural cure for sleep?”

Dr. Tracy’s book, “The Sleep Secret: How To Sleep Without Pills,” makes some suggestions for
those of us on the night shift: 1) stop drinking caffeine at 5 am or earlier

2) come home, turn off the computer and TV

3) lie down and listen to the audios designed specifically from Dr. Tracy’s book.

Trapper said that the hypnotic, subliminal commands on the audio puts people into a deep sleep within moments. The audios have a way of immediately taking the mind off the days activities.

Dr. Tracy pointed out in his book that the reason people can’t sleep is because of worry, resentments or otherwise having an inability to shut down the mind. Financial worries are a big reason why people can’t sleep, Dr. Tracy points out.

Letting go of these negative thoughts is the key to a good nights sleep.

We need to function at our best to find inspiring solutions to these money worries and every other worry that is keeping us from sleep.

In order to get that million dollar idea, a fresh mind is necessary.

As we discussed on last week’s show about the Angels with Amanda Goldston, asking for help from the unseen helpers just before sleep helps many to wake up the next morning with a solution to what was at first perceived as a problem.

Trapper said that 43 million people cannot sleep. In a recent survey in the UK, 8,000 respondents said they’d rather sleep than have sex.

Perhaps after a good night’s sleep, they’ll want to have sex again!

At this point in the program, Claus Jensen joined the call, which was a happy surprise for all of us!

He told us how he created the music for “Sleep Secret Audio.” He is a student of Joe Vitale’s “Attractor Factor.” Just before sleep Claus put out the intention to create the best possible music for the project. He awoke the next day with the music in his mind.

He got up immediately and wrote it down, and thus the music for “Sleep Secrets” was manifested, by intending, by praying, and by taking action when the time came to do so.

Claus said this project is truly one of the things that is meant to be.. The Internet is the Miracle Of The Message. Fifteen years ago, when Trapper was first starting his Locksmith business, he went door to door, handing out business cards. Now Claus is able to discuss this beautiful gift to the world, “Sleep Secrets Audio and PDF” with us from Denmark.

We thanked Pat O’Bryan for bringing us all together. We are all helping one another on the MilagroWorld forum, founded by Pat O’Bryan, as well as Twitter and Face Book and all the Nings and My Space, which are all contributing to make this time in history the “we” generation. We have evolved away from “Me” and embraced the “We” of all that is possible.

Without sleep, it is impossible to live a normal life, Claus said. As sleeplessness continues, we become short-tempered, irritable and depressed.

Lack of sleep is a rampant problem all across the world today.

Claus said he played the music one day while his six year old daughter was in the next room, playing with a friend.

She came into his room and said, “Daddy, what is that music? We heard it and felt like crying.”

This was the defining moment when Claus knew that this was the perfect music for the project.

Claus went on to say that the Music For Mother and Child (http://www.musicformotherandchild.com) was created with the knowledge that the first sense of a fetus or little baby in the womb is hearing. Sounds are important to children, and it is important that they hear and absorb only the positive and beautiful, because they absorb it all.

Hospitals in Denmark and perhaps elsewhere in Europe use the music of Claus and Henrick Birk Aaboe in antepartum hospital units where mother’s are on bedrest due to preterm labor.

The music does not prevent an early birth but places a blanket of music around the entire family as they go through this difficult time. When the parents relax, the children become happy. So parents must learn how to relax and be positive.

Joan’s sister, Betty, came on the call and said she has a Routine she follows to the T every night before sleep. First she keeps to the Routine of going to bed exactly at 1830 every night.

Then she Releases all of the days events to her Higher Power, because there is nothing more that can be done.

Then she Receives the blessings of all the lessons and opportunities of her day, and visualizes doing so with open arms, before she goes forth with the night long sleep.

Resting takes on a whole new meaning with this beautiful routine!

Next we talked about all the people who need to hear this message. Certainly this gift goes far across the continuum since Insomnia is a number one problem in the global consciousness.

Trapper is a former Marine and feels he has a calling to help the soldiers coming home from Iraq with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. We can first of all guess that these young people will have problems getting to sleep. Joan and I know that Mr 2020 of Vision Quest Radio is working on a program for Vets returning home with PTSD.

We know that Trapper and Mr 2020 will have a wonderful time working out the details of their common mission.

And we finished out the program with Claus Jensen and Henrick Birk Aaboe’s beautiful music!

Origin Of Collective Wisdom

Moonvine aka Joan Adams, and Moo aka Kate Loving Shenk and You, openedup the radio waves for our radio show  called “Moon, Moo & You: The Collective Wisdom,”3/3/09.

We had a practice show 2/25/09. The purpose of this show was to make sure we knew how to work the web site so that Joan and I were equally able to contribute and interact with our listeners.

Because I was the one who originally set up the page for the show, I was the one who had to “man” the switchboard. However, I did not really understand anything about the switchboard, but figured I could get it together during the practice.

However, this did not happen.

I got on the line and people were trying to get on but I had no idea how to bring them on, Joan included.

So I flew by the seat of my pants.

I began to feel like the Fool in the Tarot card who is about to take a leap of faith, jumping off the cliff with total faith that he would and will be taken care of.

Speaking extrapraneously is not one of my strengths. I’ve never in my life been faced with a microphone and a radio show that I am responsible for providing Grist For The Mill.

But there I was!! And so I decided to just have fun with it.

I remember talking about the importance of numbers, that as we prepared for the show, the number 44 kept surfacing and resurfacing as the magic we were supposed to be paying attention to.

The number 44 has been Joan’s magic number for quite some time. She told me that at one time, she was in a job she hated, but instead of emphasizing how much she hated the job, she decided to look for angel blessings in the form of the number 44.

She involved family in this activity and when her daughter saw 44 anywhere at all, would call her mom and say, “Mom!! An angel just blessed us!!”

And that brought Joan closer to the liberation from the job that then evolved to doing the things she now loves doing.

The host call in number for the show is: 646-200-4444. The two 44′s at the end of the number seemed to beckon us to take the leap of faith.

So I talked about the significance of numbers. I talked about Squidoo Lens making. I talked about Single Payer Guaranteed Healthcare for all in Pennsylvania.

I talked about the 1986 Toyota Turcel that I just brought home, and was sitting in the driveway with 45,000 miles on it. I talked about how the car was spooking the dogs because they never saw it before.

I talked about how I loved Gypsy Owl’s name, who was by now listening to the call. I spoke about an owl we once had by the name of Persephone who came to live with us after we hit her with our then car on the way to see Tom’s sick and dying Aunt Hilda.

Hilda loved animals.

I told the deep significance of this story on the practice show.

I talked about self-image and eating disorders.

I talked about the entrepreneurial spirit and how those of us who hang out on the internet communities all tended to rise above the negative vibrations that plague so many people.

I talked about all of Joan’s Squidoo lenses and about her husband Whitey, who is legally blind.

I talked about our MasterMind group who would be meeting in a few hours and how a few of us were shooting for Giant Squid, an award bestowed on Squidoo lens makers after they make 50 then 100 lenses.

I talked so much that I was hoarse by the end of the 60 minutes.

After the practice show, I figured out how to work the switch board, and am confident that all upcoming shows will be interactive and robust in the sharing of the Collective Wisdom.

I know that this is true.

Yet I stepped off the cliff, like the Fool. I learned to speak off the cuff, just like I once learned how to play the violin by ear.

It happened after many years of visualizing and dreaming about it.

And that, my friends, is the origin of our show!
