From what I read, there is a number of unique technologies out there; brainwave entrainment, binuaral beats, isochronic tones, but I don’t really know the difference between these. Could you help at all?

you can take a 10 day vipassana course without being an inmate – the website is http://www.dhamma.org

All courses are provided free of charge and vegetarian meals are provided. But to warn you gently, it’s anything but a vacation!

I understand the need to lock people up who have committed a crime. I do not understand why so little is done to help these people return to the love they were born with, and find a new breath of living. It looks like Jenny Phillips is committed to that process and I am excited to learn about her progress!

I have done (minimal, I regret to admit) some work with inmates through the Kairos prison ministry program, and worked with mentally ill in a psychiatric hospital setting for 10 years.

While the populations are very different, I will say the need for validation is the same. All people, regardless of their past, deserve the chance to make the effort to change. If we do not continue to offer this opportunity, who will?

Very interesting. I hve often longed for the opportunity to make a retreat for such a time period–ten hours and day for ten days seems to me like an invitation to paradise. I guess I’ll have to commit a heinous crime and get put in jail before I can enjoy that kind of vacation. Just that fact alone tells us what kind of a distracted, mind-numbing general culture we live in.

By the way, to get out of jury duty all you have to do is ask one of the lawyers or the judge an intelligent question. You’ll be dismissed after that.
