The Collective Memory Waits For Us To Heal It

Published by under Uncategorized

Dear God/ess, Self-healing with Ho’oponopono is simple yet shakes up the mind, because we’ve all been raised to see the world as separate from us, outside of us.

If I am 100% responsible for actualizing a problem, then I am 100% responsible for resolving it. All erroneous thoughts within myself, and within my patients are transmuted to perfect Love.

We work directly with Divinity, who does the alchemy of transforming all thoughts to Love.

I Love You and Thank You is a forgiveness appeal to Divinity, and Love begins this mystical process of transmuting all erroneous thought, by neutralizing them and clearing, cleaning them away. In the process of finding clarity, a profound experience of Letting Go results, although results is not what we are striving for.

Resentment, fear, anger, blame or confusion is released by Love whose energy sends them into a state of void, emptiness and true freedom.

With the thoughts now empty and free, it is Love which fills the void. The result is renewal. You are restored in Love and so is your patient or client and all involved in the problem.

Where there was anger in your patient or client, there is now Love. Where there was darkness in her soul, there is now the healing Light of Love.

The following affirmations are crucial when caring for your patients and clients as well as in all of your relationaships:

1) The physical universe is a manifestation of my thoughts.
2) If my thoughts are cancerous, they create a cancerous physical reality.
3) If my thoughts harmonize with perfect Love, they create a physical reality overflowing with Love.
4) I am 100% responsible for creating my physical reality. I am 100% responsible for correcting thoughts that create a diseased reality.
5) There’s no such thing as “out there.” Everything exists as thoughts in my mind. Let these thoughts be Loving Thoughts, expanding with Loving-Compassion.

These truths will set me free.

Om, Peace, Amen

How To Be A Clearing Station For Every Problem In The World

Published by under Uncategorized

Dear God/ess, This week, I again am witnessing  the advent of electronic charting in our workplace, and am gratified to  re-learn for once and for all how closing the mind and opening the mind yield two entirely different results.

I view the Epic computer system as a fragment of myself.

(Epic is the new Hospital wide computer program upon which all of us must now chart our patient’s medical record where we work).

Ho’oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian healing technique that I use to integrate all the problems of the health care system within my inner self and simply clean these problems with the Ho’oponopono meditation practice, as well as all the problems I see anywhere seemingly outside, and take 100% responsibility for all of it.

Using computers and other advanced technological machines in our work tends to make a nurse feel separate from her patients.

The strange temptation arises to gaze at the computer whenever I am in the middle of charting something. When my patient speaks, I glance her way, glance back at the computer; glance at her, glance back at the computer, like some sort of multi-tasking geek.

The reality is, that these technological advances can free us up to be a healing presence for our patients.

But until I feel at peace with the machine, I can never feel at peace with anyone or anything else.

A harmonious mind cannot be divided.  A well balanced and harmonious, happy healing presence takes good care of her patients and makes them feel good about being in the hospital to begin with.

As soon as we come to see the Epic machine as ultimately meaning nothing, and that we make up our meaning about it and about everything else, then an awakening occurs.

What I think about the Epic machine is a reflection of my mind, is not a truth or even a fact about it.

When I view Epic as a problem, I am interpreting, remembering, comparing and judging any memory I have about this and all similar memories, certainly not living in the present moment.

Imagine two exact same scenarios experienced by two different people: One nurse decides that she loves Epic. Consequently, she is efficient, moves patients through the system quickly, spends more time with her patients, and barely has any problems or glitches in the system.

Another nurse decides that she hates Epic. The computer continually loses her entries, freezes up and shuts down.

I am somewhere in the middle, hating it and loving it, trying to make philosophical sense of it, with varying degrees of success and failure.

The mind creates the stress and fear, the balance and well- being in these examples.

So where does the practice of Ho’oponopono fit into my perception of what I see as a problem with electronic charting, with nurses leaving the profession, with the nursing shortage, and with my own feelings of powerlessness regarding all of it?

Firstly, Ho’oponopono teaches that problems and situations do not exist outside of me, (or you), as we perceive them.

Perceptions are reflections of our thoughts.

If I perceive an outer manifestation as a problem, then I have the opportunity to recognize that I am 100% responsible for creating it, thus having 100% responsibility for erasing and cleaning the problem and all my judgments and criticisms about the problem.

The perceived problems is simply a shared memory that we all have in common, back to the beginning of humanity.

We clean and erase these problems by inwardly and incessantly chanting: I love you, Thank you, I am sorry (for my part in creating this problem), Please forgive me (for my part in creating this problem).

We inwardly and incessantly chant even before perceiving the problem.

I am relieved by this practice because if I am 100% responsible for creating all aspects of my life, and if all of it without exception is an inside job, then I can work on it within myself without depending on anything or anyone else.

At the same time, the phrases I love you, Thank you, I am sorry, Please forgive me are directed to my higher power, divinity, the angels, God/ess.

We let the unseen forces solve all “problems” as we chant our phrases.

Ho’oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian healing technique that nurses can use to save themselves, save our profession, save the Planet. Paradoxically, the practice does not depend on whether anyone else does it, or not. As long as I inwardly erase and clean every problem presented before me, all is right with the world.

This is a spiritual practice that in its simplicity, fits well into modern life. It applies to every single problem our world is having at this time: violence in our schools, homes and communities, drug and alcohol addiction, deep depression and sadness, suffering of all kinds.

None of it is “out there.”

If I see it, it’s mine.

My responsibility is to take 100% responsibility, to stop the blaming, stop the finger pointing.

Bless Ho’oponopono: Bless all the spiritual practices that bring us peace.

Om Peace Amen

What Is Prayer, If Not A Song?

Published by under Uncategorized

Dear God/ess, What is Prayer? Certainly it is more than these next ten things. It could be twenty-five, fifty or one hundred things. Or it can be broken down to one thing and one thing only: Love.

1) A Daily Act Of Gratitude-An aura of thankfulness accompanies all prayers and makes your inner light shine!

2) An Awareness Of Love’s Presence-Praying is an act of Love. Prayer brings out all of the qualities of light and love and filters these through your loving heart. Pray now and Pray often for these wonderful heart filled moments to grow.

3) A Meditation-Prayer is a meditation! As I write my daily prayers, I feel a deep sense of quiet and need for solitude. I cannot write prayers with music in the background, nor can I write them in front of a Television program. Quiet. Stillness. Meditation.

4) A Song-Yes, it is true. Pray is an inner song of the heart. Are you singing to yourself? Is anyone listening? Or are the unseen helpers not only listening, but preparing to usher in a lesson you need to learn related to the prayer you are singing?

5) An Inspiration-Yes, prayers are an inspiration. They can come out of the blue and you must write them down. They can come as you are doing totally unrelated activities such as sweeping, raking leaves, walking in nature, or watching a sunset. They arise while driving a car, during or after exercise, or after an especially luscious meal over a wonderful cup of coffee. Always be ready for them. They wait to be heard. They wait to be shared.

6) A Wish-Perhaps an idle wish can turn into a prayer of the heart: such as a wish for peace on earth, harmony between nations and their people, or the hope that some one you know who is sick may be well.

7) A Yearning-A prayer can be as simple as a tender or urgent longing for justice, compassionate understanding, or just a silent communing with a friend or your favorite animal or tree.

8) A Feeling Of Connectedness-Prayers certainly give a greater sense of connection with everyone in this great cosmic dance. It goes beyond this moment and links you to every moment that has passed or is yet to arrive. And it also gives you the feeling that this very moment is the only moment that there is or ever is, right here, right now.

9) A Dream-Prayers can come to you in a dream. Perhaps the dream itself is a prayer. Perhaps the prayer is a dream. Some practitioners of dreams say that daily life is really a dream, and in this case, prayer can be a conscious form of continual meditation. Prayer is speaking to God. Meditation is allowing God to speak to you. In this way, prayer certainly feels like a dream state.

10) An Angel-Angels are everywhere. People who help or who serve are called Earth Angels. They certainly are prayerful beings. Our guardian angels come to us often in the form of a prayer. When we say a prayer for guidance to our Guardian Angels, they manifest in ways that require an acute awareness of all gifts that come our way after the prayer has been sung.

Be open, awake and receptive. You are surrounded by wings of protection.

Om Peace Amen

What Is Your Relationship With The Present Moment?

Published by under Uncategorized

My friend Cliff saw Eckhart Tolle on the Oprah Winfrey Show, bought “A New Earth,” written by Tolle, and read every word.

About two months later, he stopped for coffee on his way to work, stepped off a curb, and fell on the pavement face first.

His hip broke. He heard the crack on the way down.

A day later, the doctors performed a successful hip replacement, and Cliff was in for a long rehabilitation period.

Cliff’s attitude impressed all of his friends. He was jolly, telling jokes and instructed all of his visitors to read “A New Earth.”

Most of my friends have seen “The New Earth Webinar” on Oprah.com, but we all got stalled on the last segment, Chapter 10, which we heard was two hours long.

But seeing Cliff do so well facing his challenge, and as I attributed this to Tolle’s book, I decided to watch it.

At the same time, the 9/11 attack anniversary was commemorated privately and publicly here in the U.S and throughout the world.

Tolle talks about his vision of the New Earth, which simply is bringing consciousness to every moment, becoming aware that we are aware, becoming still within this awareness.

This expanded perspective brings us to the realization that we are far greater than the body or the physical dimension we all seem to agree on.

The rhythms of life include the ebb and flow, the expansion and contraction, the inhaling and exhaling, the heart in motion and at rest, if only for a mili-second.

We sleep then we wake up, whether remembering our dreams or not.

The seasonal changes give rise to a rebirth in spring time and a dissolution of life in the Autumn and Winter, and a great abundance and plenty in the Summer months especially here in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

And in this cyclic rhythm, there comes a time in the outgoing of life, in the Youth of our lives, when we return to the Source, as we age.

In this phase of our earthly existence, we may come to the realization that we are not separate from other humans, animals, rock, wind or water.

As we experience the death of loved ones, or perhaps a near death experience in our own lives, an awakening often occurs.

As terrible as the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon were, they served to temporarily wake up America. For a period of several weeks, we were all bonded in a unified state of love and compassion.

In New York, people spoke of an aura of safety, where people were not afraid to speak to one another on the streets. People actually poured forth their stories and communicated their inner most feelings with perfect strangers.

This is a beautiful example of a shared awakening. No one wanted this sense of unity to end. But of course it did when the wars began.

Years ago, I shared a joke with one of the Family Practice Residents. I’d ask him, “Are you a human doing or a human being?”

I gave him a book called The One Minute Meditator, and he eventually decided he’d rather Be, rather than constantly Do, so he slowed down his life.

The act of being brought into our doing is what matters the most, Tolle said on the last Webinar.

The act of being becomes more valuable with age but many young people also see the wisdom of this, these days.

We don’t have to be on the death bed to accept the Reality of Spirit.

Do you know when you are in the presence of a peaceful or disturbed person?

A disturbed person slams doors, sighs with worry or contempt, and throws papers across the room.

Vietnamese Buddhist Thich Naht Hahn said of Thomas Merton, the Christian Mystic: “He knows how to shut a door,” gently, with mindful awareness and with respect.

Yes, respectfully shutting a door, making bread by hand, serving and preparing a meal, and washing each dish synchronized with the conscious breath is the portal to Mindful Living.

Tolle says, “The only actions that do not cause opposing reactions are those aimed at the good of all.”

It’s not what you do or what you say, but how you do it or say it that matters. Are you centered and focused as you do it or say it, or distracted and ill at ease?

Do I open the door as a means to an end or am I opening it with my fullest attention?

Tolle cites 3 components to Awakening:

1) Acceptance

2) Enjoyment

3) Enthusiasm

Tolle says that as you go about your day, if you are not experiencing acceptance, enjoyment or enthusiasm, than you are bringing suffering to other people and to the world.

Don’t worry about the difficult boss, the violence in our cities, the killing of innocent people, the outcome of  Elections here in America or anywhere else.

By accepting these challenges, you are not condoning them, says Tolle.

Begin to practice “Presence Power,” which is the act of developing your spiritual muscle.

Oprah made a good point that if you want to run a marathon, you must train for it.

The same is true for developing presence and conscious awareness.

Ask yourself: “Am I able to accept this moment exactly as it is?”

Because the control freak boss or whom ever you are confronting is a lovable and loving child of God/ess.

But you may still need to step aside from it.

If you are stuck in an elevator with an ego-driven, loud talking ignoramus, accept it, do not resist it.

Watch the drama as you would a movie. Step back!! Enjoy the show!!

Ask yourself: “Am I ok with the present moment?” If not, I am not empowered, says Tolle.

What ever you do, from the act of making tea, looking out the window, watching the clouds, listening to the rain, the airplane, the breathing of your dog: by bringing presence to these small acts, by fully dimensionalizing the here and now, great meaning and purpose results.

Be vigilant, like a radar and ask yourself from moment to moment, “Am I accepting, enjoying, enthusing?”

As you perform an action, ask yourself, “Am I contaminating my movements and actions with negativity from past memories, or am I joyfully accepting and honoring this moment and Life Itself?”

Tolle says that true success depends on the quality of energy flowing into what you are doing.

Choose to do what you must do, or don’t do it. Make the process a conscious one.

As you enjoy the process, great creative thoughts, leading to enthusiastic action, arise.

Again, practice with small acts. If I don’t like going to work, accept it (and show up anyway). If I am stuck in mud up to my knees, accept it.

Joy and enthusiasm arise from the ability to accept the small challenges.

The world is not here to make you happy. It is here to make you conscious, Tolle emphasizes.

As we enter the flow of living, a conscious species is born.

We are It! Let us consciously strive to hand a better world to our children.

Om Peace Amen

Turn On The Love Switch, Today

Published by under Uncategorized

Dear God/dess, Over the beauty of this weekend, where new life arises in the heart of the whole world, and warm weather finally is settling in, I am struck by the need to stay centered and aligned in the here and now, and to celebrate humanity’s ability to evolve and transform,  to forgive, let go and move on.

Let Go. Let God. Every time. Now.

What can we learn from selflessly caring for the sick, the hungry, the poor and the down trodden?

The answer is to see God/ess in all the details, keeping your heart open with loving intent, and live every moment as a means of keeping your heart filled to the brim with Love.

This is all we ever really need to remember.

If someone in our lives angers us or commits what appears to be an injustice, love them anyway.

Seek out all the love in any situation and eccentuate it, allowing any negatives to recede from your experience.

We cannot afford to live our lives in any other way.

When life events superficially seek to disprove this truth, that Love Supercedes All, simply disregard the tendency to doubt that Love Is The Answer to any Question based in this lifetime and beyond.

Turn on the Love switch and let all the rest go.

There is no other choice.

I am who I am no matter what happens: a Loving Beacon of God/ess.

And so are you.

Om Peace Amen

A One Year Ago Idea!

Published by under Uncategorized

Dear God/ess, Joan Adams met for the first time, this time last year, and the following is what I wrote:

Finally Joan4 and I meet at the Charlotte North Carolina Airport. Joan wore an orange Dr Seuss hat and carried around a sign that said, “Kate Loving Shenk–TFR (Tate Family Reunion) 2010!” People tried to ignore the hilarity, and some even succeeded!

Then one by one I met Joan’s family. Whitey, Joan’s husband, is one unique human being. He is funny. He loves trivia. He is an ace golfer. He is a practical joker and loves to tell the stories of how he fools his friends and family on April Fools, also Joan’s birthday. He loves to call the zoo on that day and ask for Mr Lions and there’s someone who always falls for it.

“There’s no Mr Lions here.”

Whitey taught me how to hit a golf ball today, too!

Joan and I originally met on Pat O’ Bryan’s online University in 2007, but I only remember seeing her picture on the site. When Pat decided to sell his first published book called “Your Portable Empire”  on Second Life, many of us from the Pat O’ Bryan Online University decided to help Pat sell his book there as well as hang out in one close knit Master Mind and learn everything we could as fast as we could about Internet Marketing.

My friends there wanted me to meet “MoonVine.” The name of my avatar on Second Life was “Mooie Infinity.”

I remember meeting Joan aka Moonvine on Second Life for the first time. Immediately it was obvious that we spoke the same language: The language of the heart.

After doing Moon, Moo and You: The Collective Wisdomtogether for over a year, it seems right that we would meet in person.

And so the moment is here and we are acquainted in flesh and blood reality. North and South come together to heal the treasured wounds of another century.

The karma we both felt as our online relationship deepened now takes on new dimensions as we meet and talk long into the night, admire the family dogs and discuss family dynamics.

Maggie is pictured here, protector of family and friends, lover of life and of children.

Om, Peace, Amen.

Real Healthcare Is Delivered Without Health Insurance Corporations

Published by under Uncategorized

Dear God/ess, One of the most important things to arise from my talk with Chuck Pennacchio on Tuesday’s radio show about HB 1660 and SB 400, the PA Single Payer legislation, was the emphasis on REAL patient centered choice and care.

Much lip service has been given to patient centered care, but it does not exist and cannot exist as long as the specter of the Health Insurance Corporation haunts and dictates  medical decisions.

Tomaso’s recent hospitalization underscored the CYA (Cover Your Ass) style of medicine practiced here in the US. I am grateful that Tomaso is still with us on Planet Earth, but the noise level in that hospital and the fact that sleep is nonexistent, runs counter to any kind of real healing that only sleep can provide, as test after test, antibiotic after antibiotic was administered.

The strict allopathic approach to medicine in this country is why I avoid going to the doctor, and would continue avoiding no matter if we had Single Payer, or not, as long as the rigid allopathic medical model remains in place. More and more people are trusting their Naturapathic or Homeopathic Doctor and rejecting Allopathy. These numbers grow every day.

Chuck Pennacchio said that he and Walter Tsou and others went through the Single Payer Bill line by line to reflect Integrative Medical choices. These intervention, such as Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Homeopathy, massage, vitamin supplement therapy among many others, would further cut medical costs. Single Payer would bring the cost of medicine to a manageable level, and providing Integrative Medical choices in the equation would cut costs even more.

Speaking of cutting costs, Single Payer is the answer to the so called budget woe in every State in the US. But an EIS (Economic Impact Study) would prove exactly how much money would be saved. This is the next step in getting our Single Payer legislation passed.

Please donate here to make the EIS a reality. We need to educate the public about this important life-saving, life promoting, life enhancing future for Pennsylvania, because once PA takes the leap of moral faith to pass this legislation, all other states will follow.

There is no doubt in my mind.

Om Peace Amen

Fundraising On Blog Talk Radio

Published by under Uncategorized

Dear God/ess, Today, Ulysses The Dog is going to get the first bath of his entire life. Usually, the Conestoga River does the good cleanliness deed, but the long winter of illness is pleading for a Baptism–with soap!

Last night, I had the first fund-raiser on Kate Loving And The Collective Wisdom, with guest Chuck Pennacchio. I am excited to use the show to raise money for worthy causes. From my point of view, the worthiest cause of my lifetime is to implement a One Payer system here in the Pennsylvania Commonwealth. We were raising money to fund the Economic Impact Study, which will prove for once and for all the cost-savings of a true Universal Health Care Delivery System.

Additionally, Chuck Pennacchio is one of the best speakers you will ever hear, anywhere. We worked for his run for Senate here in PA in 2008. I walked miles, going door to door, distributing leaflets and telling people why they should vote for Chuck.

If he runs for political office again, I would do the same thing. With the added efforts of our Progressives For Pennsylvania group, Chuck won big here in Lancaster City and County.

Since his run, he has worked tirelessly for the Single Payer Cause. He also is a Political Science Professor. On the show, you will hear what an excellent and brilliant teacher he is. I admire his passion. The discussion was a lively one.

For anyone wishing to donate money to fund the Economic Impact Study, Here Is The Link.

Again, the show replay is Here.

Let us rally for the Least Among Us. Let us rally for all of us. After all, that is what Jesus would have us do.

How Can We Live Life A-New?

Published by under Uncategorized

Ulysses The Dog is on a new diet that is helping his eyes to glow and his coat to feel soft under my fingers. I am continuing his anti- cancer regimen. He is running and jumping like a pup again.

Yet don’t we all feel like a new life has begun? We survived one of the most grueling winters on record. I spent most of it out in icy snowbanks, coaxing dear Ulysses to eat, if even one bite of food–any  food would do. When he did eat a quarter of a hot dog, we rejoiced greatly.

Tomaso now has an appetite that reminds me of Ulysses’ three months back. Illness and recuperation is one of the great motivators of change. Often we become different Beings as a result of illness and regeneration. These experiences serve as spiritual entry points, as we come to know that we are so much more than physical beings.

I remember visiting Delaney and Jala after Delaney broke his hip in mid-October,  2010. (Delaney is my brother, and Jala is his Life Partner).

Time was nonexistent. I slowly walked with Delaney, as he put one foot in front of the other, holding on to a walker. He was diligent about doing his exercise.

One time he stopped in front of a tree and said,  ”This is where Myrrah told us she wanted us to help her die.” We both wept.

The dogs do tell us when they’ve had enough. Dying often isn’t as easy for the Humans.

But rebirth is what we live today in the here and now, in this present moment! The air cleanses the spirit as well as the body.

Breathe! You are alive!!

The Paraller Universe Of Dog and Master

Published by under Uncategorized

Dear God/ess, Ulysses The Dog took the longest walk walk today since his surgery and long before. I am sure we walked 4 miles. Now he is calm.

He had an odd reaction to Tomaso’s return from the hospital. The two of them had emergency abdominal surgery thirteen days of each other. They both are recovering, transforming and evolving, as if one is mirroring the other.

On our walk today, Ulysses took me on a path we’ve never taken before in the neighboring County Park. The path led to the beautiful Conestoga River where Ulysses went swimming in mud. About 1/4 of a mile later, we found an area of the river with swirling pools, and all the mud washed away.

Ulysses stubbornly refused to leave the river. I said to him, “Ulysses, we have to get home to Tomaso, so I can take care of him like I took care of you.”

Ulysses registered these words, and onward we went.

Since we live on the Conestoga River, Ulysses can visit her again, later in the evening. What a beautiful tour of the river we had today!

The pale green of early spring is giving over to a darker hue and yellow wild flowers reach upward to the warming sun.

Master and dog are reunited in a common cleansing this season. I think I’ll step back and allow the  process to illuminate us all.

Om Peace Amen
