Dear God/ess, Another documentary film we watched over these last few days, is “Fierce Grace,” about Ram Dass’ life. I was especially taken with the concept of what Ram Dass calls, “Being Stroked.”
Ram Dass had a stroke in 1997, and nearly died. He believes he was spared because he still has work to do. He says he has much more to teach the Babyboomers about aging without fear. As he lay on the floor immediately after the stroke, he stared at the water pipes without any thought whatsoever about the Divine, God/ess or Higher Power. This was another sign to the great spiritual teacher that more work needed to be done on himself.
Especially as we embark on the year 2011, we may as well accept that unknowns will present themselves to all of us. These events need not be viewed as “Good” or “Bad.” They simply are “What Is.” Certainly outside events will spell success or failure on many fronts. Certainly it is much better to view everything that happens to us as learning opportunities.
Let us first of all remember to take what is happening “out there” as a further signature to focus more intently on what is happening “in here,” that is, in the inner sanctuary of our mind(s).
Let us always remember that none of us is ever alone, in this year, and all the years to come.

Dear God/ess, “Health is not just the absence of disease, but the presence of well being.”
Tomaso and I have been watching documentary films about health, stress, meditation, prayer and food as it pertains to the state of well being in the absence of disease, also known as dis-ease.
The first film we watched, which I never saw before, was “Super Size Me,” a mind altering experience as the audience follows the experience of a young man, Morgan Spurlock, who eats nothing but McDonald’s food for 30 days. At the end of his experiment, he had a weight gain of twenty-five pounds, elevated cholesterol and an inflamed and fatty liver, like that of an alcoholic.
His doctors warned him about continuing to eat fast foods, which he ceased immediately after 30 days. They told him he would surely die.
Another one about food we are still in the process of watching is called “The Beautiful Truth,” about the revolutionary doctor, Max Gerson, who found that food cures cancer, not pharmaceutical drugs. And we are speaking here of good, unprocessed, organic food, food that is not genetically engineered, as are all fast and junk foods here in America.
We can thank Monsanto Food Corporation, the mastermind behind genetically engineered food in our country, who for the sake of greed is poisoning America’s food supply.
We need to be outraged about this, my friends. This is very serious.
In fact, one of the recent Wiki Leaks exposed our government going after the French Government for not embracing Monsanto, so that their food supply could be poisoned, too.
I am taking my hat off to France, right now. And to Wiki Leaks.
Those of us who want to shed a few pounds in the New Year will not do so by eating fast or junk food, or processed foods (also genetically engineered, in many cases), and I, for one, am cutting out wheat from my diet.
REAL food makes us strong and able to rise up and manifest our true potential in the New Year.

Dear God/ess, This is the time of year where we formulate a plan for the New Year. Sheila Duncan, the mastermind behind Trouble The Dog, pictured here, said on last night’s MoonMooYou: The Collective Wisdom, that 2011 is the year for Trouble: Trouble The Dog, that is!
Joan is going to dedicate her time promoting local businesses in and around the Rock Hill South Carolina area. To this end, she will relinguish her responsibilities on the radio show. She will be missed.
My New Year’s Resolutions entail getting this Pray To Heal Blog published, while continuing to bring great guests to the MoonMooYou Radio Show. The show has a way of creating new pathways of neural stimulation. I love the ideas and brand new avenues I suddenly find myself on.
Blog Talk Radio is making it more difficult to have shows without paying a monthly fee, but now having paid the fee, many new services are now included to make the shows more user friendly and versatile, for me as well as for you, the listener.
Stay tuned!
We pray for the potential of this upcoming year. Nothing is more beautiful than the purity of potentiality as one year ends and we embrace the new beginning all together.
Let us relinquish a few extra pounds, habits that no longer serve, if they ever did, and the thoughts that bind us.
For this is a world without end.

Dear Godess, The energy of prayer is not something that is “sent” and “received.” We do not require that it go anywhere, because it is omnipresent: it exists everywhere.
A prayer that is focused on a person or an animal halfway across the world is as powerful as a prayer that is focused on the family next door. All energy exists in the now and it is not stronger or weaker the farther it goes. The energy of prayer is immediate, meaning that which is focused near or far is happening in the present moment, and happens simultaneously. This is how Quantum Physics describes the effects of prayer.
ESP and clairvoyance works in this way, as well.
Naturally these explanations add to the mystery of how and why prayer works. We are satisfied that it does work, and as we learn to drop the need for rational explanations, we work more on the energy of Faith to pray, and to pray often.
Love, compassion and non-judgment set the foundation for prayer and its effects.
A good time to pray is when you feel your buttons being pushed, and a resistance rising up to confront the “what is” of what is occurring in your life.
Why do we fight on the battleground of the mind? Why can’t we detached and find that the battleground is not a fact but a figment of a made up illusion?
A good example for me is the Bush Era torture practices still employed now by the military. Obama could outlaw torture but he so far has not. Whenever I think of this, I lose all sense of balance or calm.
I am sure we all have our own push button hot points.
What do we do about these?
Pause and pray, asking the Divine to erase and clean the identity we cling to, and replace it with the Identity we aspire to.
Who are we, really?

Dear Godess, Here on Pray To Heal and in the hearts of people all over the planet, we are under the influence: The Influence Of Prayer.
Ulysses is also under the influence. As we continue to help him with his healing regimen, which includes prayer, meditation (which he loves), pieces of raw steak with powerful antioxidant drops dripped on them, his tumor is nearly gone.
As with all healing modalities, they must not stop the moment we feel well. We may step back the drops and continue them to a lesser degree, and step up the meditation and prayer, because these help us all. Ulysses’ healing regimen is also our healing regimen.
We will continue to invite (not demand) the presence of Godess in our lives to guide us in the abundance of gratitude and unconditional love. Surely situations will arise to test our ability to love. But we must persevere and break down those attitudes of resistance within ourselves.
Patient care is a wonderful opportunity to practice the art of Unconditional Love because we can see that prayer’s healing power works along with the Science of Medicine and becomes the Art of Medicine. Neither need be mutually exclusive of the other.
So it is with all the other aspects of our lives.
The next time you feel the need to control a situation, simply go deeply into your inner sanctuary, no matter where you are, and pray for Divine Guidance.
And the process will enfold as it will: God’s Will.

Dear God/ess, One of the things about writing daily prayers, or having a plan for moving ahead in the New Year, or any other goal you may consider important to you, is to recognize the Red Flags that get your attention which, if not heeded, suck you right into crazy making and chaos.
Do you have untreated alcoholics in your life? Pay attention to the warnings that arise from those situations.
We lead the horse to water.
As in the case of the challenges of our jobs as nurses, teachers, firefighters, or law enforcement officers, if a life presents itself in need of saving, we lead the horse to water.
We lead the horse to water, release it, and get back to our creative work in the world.
I personally do not thrive in chaos. I am sure anyone reading these words doesn’t either.
Going into the New Year, I am riding solo with MoonMooYou: The Collective Wisdom Blog Talk Radio Show. Joan is busy with her work and does not need any distractions to get done what she is aiming to do.
What is my vision for the show? What does anyone want to hear from me and my guests going forward?
For starters, Astrology’s Astrologer has agreed to be on her customary monthly time slot.
Martha Giffen will be on the show January 4, 2011 to discuss New Year Goals and Visions!
At the end of January, Wendell Potter will be on the show discussing Health Insurance Reform. He is the so-called Cigna Whistle Blower, and author of the newly released “Deadly Spin.” The book is featured on this page.
We have work to do in the world. Let us brush ourselves off and keep moving!

Dear God/ess, As the light starts its return into our lives,we also are slowing down in preparation for this holiday season.
We pause as we look back over this past year and pray to stay better rooted in the present moment.
Did we keep the goals we planned for ourselves this time last year? Did we survive what we thought we could never survive? Did we triumph over adversity?
Did we shine a light on the path so others could see?
Were we patient with those who stumbled on the path? Were we wise enough to let go of that which was not ours to control?
Were we kind enough to ourselves to seek solitude, even as others were seeking excitement and avoidance?
Much of what we think will happen never does occur. And that which we least expect may creep up on us from behind.
Yet in the spirit of prayer this Pray To Heal Blog offers all of us, I say we have the strength to transcend that which appears insurmountable.
As the light of the day fades, and I write these words nearly in the dark, it feels as if so often we move ahead not always knowing where our feet will take us.
This is the faith we need to carry us to the next year, the next journey of our lives.

Dear God/ess, The repeal of DADT is a Christmas Miracle! The increase in senseless suicides of gay youth in this country may gradually come to an end with this repeal.
Our military laid the foundation for racial integration and furthered this by accepting women in the military. For the young LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Trans-gender) people who are passionate about their country and perhaps come from military families: may you now serve and become leaders in your chosen field of service.
Last night, Rachel Maddow had four LGBT military people on her show who had been discharged or outed or stepped down because of their sexual orientation. All four of these people had gone through great suffering directly related to the DADT legislation. One of the men said he almost committed suicide, when he received a phone call from a WW2 Veteran who urged him to continue to lobby for the repeal, saying that he is helping untold numbers of LGBT youth. This call literally saved a life.
All four are now activists in the repeal of DADT. Their combined efforts succeeded to change the world.
As I mentioned last week, my dad and brother were bullyed because their names were the same as a well known homosexual who came out of the closet in 1950′s small town America.
Last night, my brother told me that as we were growing up, he was cornered by a gang of homophobs in the ally behind our family home. This gang beat and “corn-holed” him with the intent to kill. My brother rose up against these mis-guided people and off they ran.
He was bullyed every day by someone who had deep seeded problems with their own sexuality.
It is my Christmas Wish that the repeal of DADT will be what our country needs to allow all citizens to stand equally on Mother Earth who provides for all of her children with Love.
May the beautiful Solstice Lunar Eclipse be the mystical energy behind Peace On Earth so that no one ever need serve in the military again.

Dear God/ess, This weekend, I read “The Meaning Of Matthew: My Son’s Murder in Laramie, and a World Transformed” by Ruth Shepard, mother of Matthew. Matthew died at the hand of misguided predator/homophobs in Laramie Wyoming 10/98. I could not put the book down. Hours after finishing the book, “DADT” (Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell) was repealed by the American Federal Government.
As Matthew Shepard laid unconscious after the brutal attack that eventually killed him, a doe curled up beside him and kept him warm. He did not die alone.
I avoided the Matthew Shepard story at the time because of the fear of losing all sense of balance and sense of self. Now that Matthew Shepard and his mother, Ruth have transformed hatred to compassionate healing in the twelve years since his death, it is easier to comprehend the tragedy because it serves to shine a light on hate and prejudice and raise the vibrational field.
This is the week of “Let there be peace and let it begin with me.” And I suddenly realized that today is the anniversary of my father’s death ten years ago. All of the ancestrial and angelic beings are sending Love to all of us at this time.
Including Matthew Shepard and Tyler Clementi. And my dear, dear dad.

Dear God/ess, What are the psychological ramifications of bullying, assuming you survive it? Tyler Clementi and many more like him did not.
This bullying phenomena snuck up on me. It turns out our whole family was bullied as I was growing up. An openly gay man with a mental illness walked the streets of my home town. His name was the same as my dad and brother. This man was mercilessly bullied because of his sexual orientation and my dad and brother were also continuously harassed because their name was the same as his.
My sister was bullied because she looked just like my brother and got out of town as fast as she could and never came back.
My brother changed his name because of this experience.
I went to private schools and escaped the cruelty of children altogether.
My mother was harassed by the John Birch Society because of her left wing politics back in the day of the McCarthy Era.
Homophobia is at the heart of much of the bullying and cyber-bullying we see today and in the past. Kids using the words “gay” and “faggot” every other word in their vocabulary substantiates this. Certainly the bullying our family withstood was directly related to homophobia.
We must all do our part to eradicate these negative force fields in our lives. As Jesse Saperstein said in yesterday’s Pray To Heal featured video, none of us can afford to be bystanders of violence and mistreatment of any person, animal, tree, or perhaps most importantly, our self.
At the root of this hatred of gays, Jews, people of color is an inability to love ourselves.
Love yourself NOW and this will be your Christmas Miracle.
