A witness tree at Devil’s Den presides over the Gettysburg battlefield. There is no official number of remaining trees that stood when cannon and rifle fire erupted in July 1863. Only parts of the battlefield have been surveyed by experts who can identify a 145-year-old tree, and few photographs show trees still standing. The fight is on to bring a single payer health care delivery system
to Pennsylvania in the form of HB 1660 and SB 300.

Three of us went to the State Capitol bulding in Harrisburg, PA
yesterday to deliver invitations to legislatures for our “Guaranteed
Health Care For All” forum September 18, 2008 at Franklin and Marshall
College.

Jerry and Don took care of House members in 2/3rds of the Capitol and
I delivered the invitations to what is called the Ryan Building and the Main Capitol.

And I got lost.

But there isn’t a more beautiful or interesting place in the world in which to
get lost!

The marble stair wells with brass decorations on the handrails; glass chandeliers,
paintings and portraits as far as my eyes could see, distracted me from the task at hand.

One room that dazzled my mind housed a larger than life statue of Abraham
Lincoln. Behind him was the largest painting I ever saw, which was the
Gettysburg Battlefield at the height of one of the worst wars in the history
of wars, when young men were slaughtered by the thousands.

This painting seemed to capture the horror of the reality of this war, with cannon
fire, and smoke from all the fired weapons and faces of anguish in the throes of
death.

Frankly, I never saw anything like it, and the room was totally empty.

I trust the battle for single payer will go smoother than the Battle of Gettysburg.

Certainly smoother than the denied claims by the Health Insurance Companies which
have demonstrated time and time again that they care nothing for the average American.

Our September forum will plant the seeds for the eventual passage of this bill.

What’s it like to write article number 100?

I love the feeling of accomplishment derived from this, but
can’t say whether article number 150, 200 or 500 will be any
more of a great milestone, in the mind.

Every article written is like an ode to life or living.

Every article written provides me the opportunity to contemplate
and think about the thoughts just forwarded to The Cosmos.

Hit send and you are practicing surrender because now your writing
is no longer under your control.

And what is surrender but the practice of letting go of the need
to control, demand or have anything more to do with perfection?

I had a patient recently who prided herself with the fact that she was a
worrier, that she had anxiety about every facet of her life, and that this
made her somehow special.

But by accepting her exactly where she was, I did not have any interest
in changing how she viewed the world.

I did not have to be right nor was it necessary to create a drama proving
she was wrong.

Her unhappiness is her’s to own.

So the 100th article is my practice of letting go of the need to be right,
or of the need to think that these articles somehow make me a “good person.”

They are testaments to life and to living.

And that is all.

Friend Bull Frog has come to live with us in the basement.

This is the height of cricket season, and crickets live in
abundance here on Blue Heron Farm.

Bull Froggy loves crickets.

S/he lives under an under water rock.

When we plop the cricket into the water, Bull Froggy, with the
speed that the eye can see only briefly, zips and splashes and
the cricket is gone.

What a show!

The dogs are first to line up for this natural entertainment and wonder.

Froggy seems to in-joy being the center of such gleeful delight!

This reminds me of the Sawet Owl we rescued after she crashed into our
windshield, crossing the Gettysburg Battle Field.

Tom’s Aunt Hilda was dying and we were traveling to her to offer our
support.

We later found out that the Sawet migratory pattern centers right there
and was in place long before the Battle itself.

We took her home and nursed her back to good health, and she lived in the barn
that entire winter.

Her food consisted of a mouse or two each day. We’d carefully place the
rodent into a coat pocket before walking quietly into her territory.

She was waiting for us.

Like the speed of bewitching magic, she’d swoop and take that mouse
out of pocket and return to her perch on a high barn beam, bowing
each time with wide alert eyes.

A thank you.

A message of gratitude.

The day Tom’s Aunt Hilda passed, our Sawet buried herself alive
in the corner of the barn.

Sawet was a messenger of the after-life worlds, calling to all of us
if we listen.

Bull Froggy reminds me of the owl, of the dogs, of the river where she will
ultimately make her way back, to the depths of worlds made more mysterious
by the unseen depths of moving water.

Mukunda swam 11 laps in the river today!! And with great enthusiasm!

He’s 11 1/2 , and going strong.

Actually, both of us swam these laps together, and a beautiful Osprey flew close
above us to get a closer view of our activities!

Ah, back to work tonight but the swim will be the great difference between
a kind of dull disinterest, and a lively involvement in all that is taking place!!

Here’s to old dogs and new tricks!!

I haven’t danced in 15 years, so tonight we went out and danced and danced and danced.

What therapy!!

I remember dancing in the old commune days around the old wood stove, or going out to various bars and dancing to bands we loved. My friends and strangers loved my dancing!!

I remember dancing with my husband to a now defunct band called “The Speed Boys.” These band members still live in area but no longer play.

What blew my mind tonight was that I was able to dance just like I did 15 years ago. Or 25 years ago. Or 35 years ago.

My cells remembered.

Age or youth is a figment of the imagination. I refuse to cave into the nonsense about getting old or thinking that I can’t do the moves because of my age.

Limitations are self-imposed! And I refuse to have anything to do with them!!

I recently purchased a statue of Saint Francis and put him in the
humming bird garden, just off a newly constructed patio. The statue
continues to transform the entire area. Now when I look at the patio
and garden, it feels protected and peaceful. The way the saint
looks lovingly downward at the bird in his hand brings solace to
the mind who beholds this scene.

Then I went to a nearby church yard and in one of the gardens
there was a very old statue of the saint. The look in the downward
gaze of both statues can be described as pure humility.

I was dealing with a child abuse case at the time and the child in
question was told by the courts that she had to go back and live
with the accused who reportedly sodomized her for the first
five years of her life.

I kept praying for Divine Intervention in this situation and for
the maturity to avoid making judgements and harsh statements that
put down the child’s alleged abusers.

Remaining nonjudgemental is an exercise in humility. Wasting time
and energy visualizing a horrible outcome and railing against the
bureaucracy that make these decisions–is a great example of
arrogance, by forgetting that the higher powers are working for
the greatest good of all concerned.

And thinking further of the simplicity of the Saint Francis figure,
who attracted all the animals to his side, I am reminded of the
dogs who go with me wherever I move or walk.

The beauty of the animals reminds me to be a channel for Universal
Love and Peace.

This is the real lesson in humility.

The manifestation of this blog reminds me of what Esther Hicks/Abraham writes about here. I appreciate this site more because of the faith I had to develop to believe that one day this would come to pass.

Doubt has no place here in the manifestation of your dreams. Doubt is the great debilitator. The more you give in to it, the more it shatters your vision. Here is what Esther Hicks/Abraham have to say:

The buffer of time gives you the opportunity to get it right before it manifests, to take pleasure from the vision and from the molding it into place… Can you imagine if everything was manifesting instantly? You would manifest this, and then you would manifest it away. And then you’d manifest that, and then… It would be a difficult thing if you were instantly manifesting every whim or every misaligned thought. It’s so much better that you have this buffer of time where you can feel it into perfection before it manifests into your experience.

Life is what happens between the spaces.

I’ve tried and tried to get a Word Press Website up and running but
finally put it on the back burner, until I ordered the John Reese
Traffic Secrets 0.2 course.

He strongly suggests that we use
Word Press because search engines love it.

On further investigation, my Hosting Service didn’t have CPanel
and didn’t even to seem to know what I was talking about when
I asked about it.

Not a good sign.

Enter Computer Genius and Internet Marketer, Charly Leetham,
who is in my Master Mind group and since I ordered the Reese
course on her affiliate link, I am now a member of her membership site.

And she offered to help me with the Word Press setup.

What should have taken about an hour ended up taking about three,
due to my host server’s dark age practices (really-no CPanel??)

What struck me about Charly is that yes, she is all things computer literate
and genius. Yes she knows the techie stuff inside and out.

But she was so cheerful!! She had total sense of control over the computer
challenge we were facing.

She didn’t become frustrated or irritable or impatient.
